The parallels between parenting and (strangely similar) professional situations are astounding. And the learnings make us better at both.

But to date, there’s no real field guide for identifying said observations. Too bad. Would be nice to study up in advance, so when we come across them, we’d know the name. Maybe even in Latin. [Flips pages] “Ooh, that’s a Stubbornus Standoffibus right there.”

So a certain leader-slash-mother decided to create one. Not a field guide per se. But an advice forum where we could all learn from each other by pointing out those lightning-bolt moments (with no actual pointing because our own mothers have said on repeat that it’s rude to point).

And while the founder’s own experience as parent and professional was the inspiration for the concept, Lead Like a Mother is definitely not FMO (For Moms Only). These are equal opportunity learnings that apply across humanity as a whole, and are not exclusive to those with offspring.

What’s in it for you? We’ve got oodles of sharables, from diffusing a 5-alarm toddler inferno to containing a similarly combustible boss blowup. We’ll also address mentor-esque topics like career mapping and knowing when a risk is worth taking. All ideas you’re welcome to copy, borrow and outright steal. No permission needed, though a link back to us on social would be much appreciated.

In addition to her role as dreamer-upper and wisdom bestower for Lead Like a Mother, Lynne is also the CEO/Owner of Fame. A proven industry force and frequent speaker, Lynne captured the attention of the industry when she purchased Fame from its global holding company in 2015, shedding the traditional agency model for a renewed focus on bold, category-redefining work.

An AdFed Silver Award recipient, Effie winner, member of The Hub Braintrust, honorary AdFed Board member and VP of the Twin Cities Retail Design Institute, she is wholeheartedly committed to choreographing brand experiences that consumers love to love.

She also happens to be the mother of 3 (almost fully) grown children, not-so-strategically spaced 7 years apart, making it impossible to choose a family vacation that keeps everyone happy. (Sigh.)
